Sekolah Kebangsaan Menjalara is located in Bandar Menjalara Kepong, Kuala Lumpur. The school opened for the recruitment of teachers and students on December 4, 1995. On January 1, 1996, the school officially began operating with a total of 520 students and 29 teaching staff, including 10 college graduates. The school is led by Mr James Khaw Cheng Hock, the first Headmaster.
The name of Sekolah Kebangsaan Menjalara is given based on the position of this school in Bandar Menjalara. Bandar Menjalara is located between Kepong, Bandar Sri Damansara and Bukit Maluri. The city is named after Her Majesty Cik Manjalara (Makche Manjelara or Cik Menyelara), the mother of the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj.
SK Menjalara has three building blocks with 28 classrooms. In addition, SK Menjalara also has several special rooms such as Science Lab, Computer Lab, Special Rehabilitation Room, School Resource Center, Exercise Room and Surau. SK Menjalara is also provided with a hall equipped with a stage and a foyer for student gatherings.
Computer-assisted teaching and learning in the timetable has been in operation as early as 1999 with the facility of 20 computer units. Now the Computer Lab has got a new computer with the use of a good internet network in addition to the use of the MBMMBI software.
